When the your local pizza hut is charging 2.75 delivery fee what are you honestly expected to tip the driver?
I just think its ridiculous to pay 6or 7 bucks total on top of the pizza price, plus they get paid a delivery fee regardless of tips…

Just for note, I worked at Pizza Hut over the summer, when gas was close to $4.00 a gallon here, and the amount of money we get per delivery is $1.00, even if we have to take 3 or 4 pizzas, and drive 40 or 50 miles we go on delivery, so tipping at least an additional dollar or two is greatly appreciated. tubachris16
I’m a horrible person…If I have cash, like a $20 or something and the tip ends up being like $2 or so, I let them keep the change, but if I pay by credit or debit card (which is more often than cash, by FAR) I NEVER tip…Not when the drivers are making an hourly wage and the company charges a delivery fee. I used to tip all the time, but not anymore.
The one exception I have is if the weather is really bad. If it’s snowy or really windy/rainy…Like if the conditions are “dangerous” for driving. Then I figure the driver earned their extra $2 or $3. Angel
First off, the driver only gets a dollar of that. The store keeps the rest. If you can’t afford (or don’t want to) pay that much then go pick up your pizza. That is no reason to penalize the driver. The delivery charge that goes to the driver helps them recoup expenses for gas and wear and tear on their car which is quite expensive considering all the driving they do.
Consider this – their computer allows them to make a note under your name in their computer. They will write in if you are an especially good or bad tipper. I am a good tipper. My pizzas always get delivered in less than 20 minutes even on the busiest nights. But you do whatever you think is best. The Passenger
I usually double the tax of the pizza I ordered and make that their tip. L.M.L
At my pizza hut, the charge is a 2.00 delivery fee, but THE DRIVERS DON’T GET ANY. A lot of times, they don’t get tips because people think that the 2.00 goes to them, or atleast some. For us, that is not their tip.. I am pretty good tipper, depending on what I get. I got a Medium Pizza and an individual pasta and left 3 or 4 bucks.. misssaprill
Don’t assume that the driver gets any of the delivery fee. In most cases the store keeps the fee. The driver might get a dollar of it to pay for gas. I used to deliver pizza but I quit when gas got to $4. Trust me the drivers hate the delivery charge more than you do because it kills their tips. After paying for gas the only money I actually got to keep was tips. My whole paycheck went in the gas tank. Please tip at least 10%. josestaco1
